Commissions and Personal Projects
I love graphic design, but my heart and soul belong to art. I have been drawing on anything I could reach as long as I’ve been able to hold a crayon or pencil. I spent most of my free time growing up doodling, sketching, and painting animals and scenery I saw in books, on television, and eventually, the internet. My first “job” was working on commissions for friends and family members in high school. Often equipped with nothing more than a pencil or Sharpie and a piece of basic printer paper, I created portraits, logos, and t-shirt graphics for fun and gas money.
I spent my undergrad adding to my skillset by specializing in acrylic, oil, and watercolor painting techniques. During this time I was also able to get my hands on a cracked copy of Photoshop and a cheap Wacom tablet and began to seriously dabble in digital media.
By the end of my undergrad I knew I wanted to put my skills to use in a more mainstream field and went back to school for graphic design. I’ve now happily settled into a busy career applying creative problem solving to a vast array of media, but I still take on commissions now and then to fully indulge my inner child. Examples below are a mix of personal projects and commissions, now mostly done in Procreate and Adobe Fresco.
